Contribution fields in Collect step
Control what information participants should provide by combining different types of contribution fields.
In the Collect step, you can add one or more fields. These fields determine how participants describe and supplement their contributions.
The field types displayed in the prototype are:
- Text
- Written value
- Slider value
- Yes/No
Text
Use a text field when participants should describe an idea, need, or perspective in their own words.
Examples of field labels:
- Describe your suggestion
- What need does the idea address?
- What would you like to change?
Written value
Use Written value when participants should enter a numerical value.
You can specify:
- The field name
- The lowest permitted value
- The highest permitted value
Slider value
Use Slider value when participants should select a value by moving a slider.
You must also specify a lowest and highest value for the slider.
Yes/No
Use Yes/No when participants should answer a question with two clear response options.
Required fields
Select Required if a field must be completed before the contribution can be submitted.
Add or remove fields
Select Add field to include another field. Use the remove button beside a field if it is no longer needed.
Tip:
Give each field a clear label that also works as an instruction. For example, use “What value could this suggestion create?” rather than simply “Value.”
