# Settings in Innovate

## The settings in Innovate allow you to customize how participants contribute, interact with content, and view contributions.

When creating an Innovate activity, you can configure several settings that affect how the activity works for both participants and leaders.

### Number of contributions

Decide how many contributions each participant can submit.

In many cases, allowing participants to contribute freely without a limit works well.

**Useful when you want to:**

- Collect a wide range of ideas
- Encourage creativity
- Capture multiple perspectives

### Moderation

Moderation controls which contributions are published and provides three options:

- **No moderation:** All contributions are published immediately without review.
- **Leader moderation:** A leader reviews and approves each contribution before it is published.
- **AI analysis moderation:** Contributions are automatically analyzed and flagged or filtered based on their content.

**Useful when you want to:**

- Manage large, open dialogues
- Maintain professional and relevant content
- Work with sensitive topics

### Editing permissions

Control whether participants can edit or add information to other participants’ contributions.

**Useful when you want to:**

- Co-create content
- Develop ideas collaboratively
- Work with internal project groups

### Privacy

Limit which ideas participants can see.

If you use different groups, you can choose to show participants only the ideas submitted within their own group.

**Useful when you want to:**

- Compare perspectives between groups
- Run parallel dialogues
- Keep group-specific discussions separate

### Anonymity

Decide whether participant names should be displayed with their contributions.

Anonymity can support:

- More open responses
- A greater sense of security
- More honest contributions when discussing sensitive topics

### Tip

Consider the type of dialogue you want to create before choosing the settings. The right combination can significantly influence both participant engagement and the quality of the contributions.
