# Tips for a successful Innovate activity

## With the right setup, it becomes easier to collect more ideas, improve the quality of contributions, and generate more useful input from participants.

### 1. Start with a clear purpose

Before creating the activity, consider:

*How will the results be used?*

*Who is the target audience for the activity?*

The clearer the purpose, the easier it is to formulate relevant questions and receive useful contributions.

### 2. Ask open-ended questions

Good questions encourage reflection.

Examples:

- What do we need to develop?
- How can we improve this area?
- What opportunities do you see going forward?

Avoid questions that can be answered with a simple yes or no.

### 3. Keep it simple

One clear question often generates better results than several complex questions.

Focus on the information you genuinely need and make the activity easy for participants to understand and complete.

### 4. Give participants context

Explain:

- Why their input is needed
- How the results will be used
- What the next step will be
- Who is responsible for following up

Providing context helps participants understand how their contributions fit into the wider process.

### 5. Use categories and properties thoughtfully

Only add categories and properties that help participants contribute or make the results easier to analyze.

Too many additional choices or fields can make the activity unnecessarily complex.

### 6. Show how the ideas are taken forward

When participants see that their contributions lead to analysis, prioritization, or decisions, engagement in future activities can increase.
