# Tips for a successful flow

## Create a clear and engaging flow by starting with a defined purpose, using logical steps, and writing concise instructions.

### 1. Start with the desired result

Decide what the flow should achieve before adding steps.

Do you want to:

- Collect new ideas?
- Identify popular suggestions?
- Rate contributions?
- Combine several stages?

### 2. Create a logical order

A simple flow could contain:

1. Instruction
2. Create contributions
3. Like
4. Rate

Only include the steps needed to support the purpose of the activity.

### 3. Explain every stage

Give each step a clear title and description. Participants should quickly understand what is expected.

### 4. Limit the number of fields

More fields do not always produce better contributions. Focus on the information needed for analysis and continued work.

### 5. Explain the basis for assessment

If participants will like or rate contributions, explain which perspective they should use.

Examples:

- Greatest value
- Highest feasibility
- Most relevant
- Greatest development potential

### 6. Check the data sources

Make sure each Like and Rate step receives contributions from the correct earlier step.

### 7. Choose feedback carefully

Participant feedback should help people understand the collective result without making the experience unnecessarily complex.
