Data sources and loading order in Flow
The data source determines which previously collected contributions will be displayed in a Like or Rate step.
The Like and Rate steps work with contributions that have already been collected in the flow. These steps must therefore be connected to an earlier step that acts as their data source.
What is a data source?
A data source is the earlier step that provides contributions to a later step.
A common setup could be:
- Participants submit ideas in Create contributions
- The ideas are used as the data source for Like
- The same or other contributions are used in Rate
If no data source is available
If the flow does not yet contain an earlier step with contributions, the interface will show that no steps are available as data sources.
Add a Create contributions step earlier in the flow before configuring the Like or Rate step.
Random loading order
With random order, contributions are displayed in a different order for different participants.
Ordered loading
With ordered loading, all participants review the contributions in the same order.
Which option should I choose?
Choose Random when you want to vary the order between participants.
Choose Ordered when everyone should review the material in the same sequence.
Tip:
Check the selected data source whenever you add or rearrange steps. This ensures that the correct contributions are used in the correct part of the flow.
